Controversy over Youth Table Tennis Team’s Meal Allowance Prompts Campus Transfer in Vietnam

According to Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper, the cost of a standard meal provided to the team of eight athletes is VND800,000 (US$33). However, the meal consists exclusively of fried tofu, braised basa fish, fried spring rolls, boiled vegetables, and tomato soup. According to the athletes who spoke to Tien Phong, they often had to purchase additional food themselves to supplement the insufficient portions provided, in order to maintain their energy levels for training. Upon the receipt of their allowances, a portion of it had to be allocated to their coaches. Following the report, the SAV has initiated investigations to validate and obtain further clarification on the information provided in the news coverage. South Korea’s Chef Show 2023 with the debut held on May 5 won over audiences in Hanoi.   This is a non-verbal performance program that focuses on the artist’s expressions. Photo: KTO Held by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the Chef Show will continue on May 6 and 7, promising to bring emotional moments to Hanoi audiences. At Bibap Restaurant, the group of eight performers took on the role of chefs. Through delicacies such as Japanese sushi, Italian pizza, the popular Korean mixed rice dish bibimbap, and Vietnamese  pho ga  (chicken noodle), they gave viewers the opportunity to experience different cuisines from around the world. British Museum & Library Introduces Documents about Vietnam

The event was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy to the UK within the framework of the “Vietnam Days in the UK” program lasting from March 28 to April 27. The program is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam – the UK . It also attracts the British public interested in Vietnamese culture as well as the Vietnamese community in the UK. At the event, Dr. Sud Chonchirdsin, Curator for Vietnam at the British National Library from 2005 – 2019, referred to historical documents proving that the Vietnam – UK trade relationship was formed 350 years before the two countries officially established diplomatic relations in 1973.
