Vietnam Issues Diplomatic Rebuke Over Sovereignty Breaches in Truong Sa

In response to inquiries from reporters regarding Vietnam’s stance on the actions of China and the Philippines in the Hoai An, Tri Le, and Cai Vung Reefs in the Truong Sa archipelago, Spokesperson Hang reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering position. She asserted that Vietnam possesses irrefutable legal grounds and historical evidence to substantiate its sovereignty over the Truong Sa islands, as governed by international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982). This convention also establishes Vietnam’s sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction over its maritime zones. Hang emphasized that any unauthorized entry or activity on features falling within Vietnam’s sovereignty constitutes a violation of its territorial integrity.
