Vietnam Triathlon Federation was inaugurated on Tuesday for the 2024-29 term with elections for leadership positions. Le Hong Minh, general director of Vietnamese tech unicorn VNG, was elected as the president of the federation.  Nguyen Thu Phuong, an officer at the Department of Physical Training and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, was appointed as the general secretary.  The federation also elected four vice-presidents and one standing member. On Tuesday, the congress outlined the objectives for Vietnamese triathlon during the 2024-29 period.  For the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, scheduled to be held in Thailand in 2025, the federation aims to secure gold medals in both the men’s and women’s duathlon events, which combine running and cycling. The Japanese government is offering taxi and bus driving license tests in languages like Vietnamese, English, Chinese and Nepali. The Supersonic Missile-Assisted Release of Torpedo (SMART) system, designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in India, is a next-generation missile-based lightweight torpedo delivery mechanism. According to a report, the SMART system to launch lightweight torpedoes can target submarines hundreds of kilometers away — far beyond the conventional range of lightweight torpedoes. As per DRDO, this canister-based missile system consists of several advanced sub-systems, namely two-stage solid propulsion system, electromechanical actuator system, precision inertial navigation system etc. The system carries an advanced light-weight torpedo as payload along with a parachute-based release system, the DRDO stated in a media release.
