Vietnam – Pakistan to Develop Relations to Commensurate with Potentials

In her remark, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, VUFO’s President, said since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, Pakistan has always been a close and reliable partner of Vietnam. The Vietnam – Pakistan relationship has achieved encouraging results, contributing to each country’s prosperous development, and enhancing their position in the region and in the world.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga believed that, with the experience of 50 years of friendly cooperation and the efforts of the two peoples, Vietnam-Pakistan relations will continue to achieve positive achievements, serving the interests and expectations of the two countries. wishes of the two peoples for peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in the region and in the world.

Pakistani Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Mehtab stressed that to promote bilateral relations, the embassy looks to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels. However, its effort mostly focuses on promoting cooperation in trade, investment, information technology, and tourism.
Noting that the event is an occasion to honor the spirit of cooperation between the two peoples, Ambassador Samina Mehtab called for the joint efforts of the two peoples to develop the Vietnam – Pakistan relations to be commensurate with their potential.

Over the past 50 years, the exchange of delegations at all levels and the sharing of common perceptions have formed a solid foundation for the development of Vietnam-Pakistan relations in various fields. In economic cooperation, the total bilateral trade turnover increased from US$ 331 million in 2014 to US$ 644 million in 2016. In 2021, despite being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the figure reached US$794 million, the highest level in the history of trade cooperation between the two countries. Cooperation in culture, science, technology, security, and defense initially achieved positive results. In the field of multilateralism, the two countries support each other at international forums, especially the United Nations Security Council. |
