The Russian-Vietnamese Entente: A Strategic Alliance Forged as Putin Visits Vietnam.



Russian President Vladimir Putin is accompanied by a delegation including Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Nikolaevich Chernyshenko, and Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko.


President Putin embarks on a state visit to Vietnam from June 19-20, following an invitation from Party Leader Nguyen Phu Trong.


This marks the fifth official visit to Vietnam by the Russian President.


Vietnam and Russia share a long history, with diplomatic relations established on January 30, 1950. The two nations upgraded their ties to a Strategic Partnership in 2001 and further to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012.


Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia, Dang Minh Khoi, greet the Russian delegation upon their arrival.


Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, who is also the head of the Vietnamese sub-committee of the Vietnam-Russia intergovernmental committee, is present to welcome the Russian guests.


The state visit holds significant importance, aiming to further strengthen the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across multiple fields.


Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission, welcomes President Putin at the airport.


The Russian President is scheduled to attend an official welcome ceremony and hold meetings with Vietnamese Party and State leaders during his visit.
