Hanoi Rolls Out Its Third Measles Vaccination Drive for 2025
HANOI TIMES — Hanoi targets immunizing a minimum of 95% of eligible children in the third phase of its 2025 measles vaccination campaign. This phase will extend across all 30 districts and towns from late April to mid-May.
As per Plan No. 118/KH-UBND, authorized by Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi People’s Committee, Vu Thu Ha, on April 26, the third round focuses on specific groups. These include children aged six months to under nine months who missed prior vaccinations, those aged 11-15 years residing in high-risk areas, and individuals with unclear vaccination histories or prior infections seeking a dose.
The campaign will ensure 100% vaccination coverage for children under nine months old across all communes, wards, and townships in Hanoi. Additionally, adolescents aged 11-15 in high and very high-risk areas will be a key target demographic.
The program is strategically divided into two phases, with the first concluding by April 30 and the second by May 15. These timelines are subject to vaccine availability from the Ministry of Health and local conditions.
To guarantee the campaign’s safety and efficacy, the Hanoi Department of Health is tasked with rigorous oversight before, during, and after its execution. They will also collaborate with the Department of Education and Training to facilitate vaccinations in schools for 11- to 15-year-olds.
Media outreach, healthcare worker training, proper vaccine storage and distribution, and emergency teams at vaccination sites are integral components of the campaign. Local authorities will adhere to safety protocols outlined in relevant decrees, with a sharp eye on post-vaccination monitoring and reporting.
